Tron. Legacy. Daft. Punk.

Tron LegacyAs if making a sequel to Tron already wasn’t cool enough. (HOLY FUCK! have you seen this trailer yet?!!?) Let’s flashback to the original Tron in 1982. Even though *cough* Journey *cough* provided 2 songs the soundtrack/main score was done by none other then Wendy Carlos (who did such soundtracks as Clockwork Orange and The Shining) she composed most of the score using a Moog synthesizer (awesome) and there was mad controversy because Disney couldn’t handle her electro-BEATZ. See Wikipedia for the full beef. Oh, and if your some DJ/producer/hipster dabbling in electronic music production and you don’t know who Wendy Carlos is, you definitely need to get up with her, like, now.

Fast forward to now, Tron Legacy is set to be released in 3D sometime (probably summer) 2010. Who’s behind the boards for the soundtrack? The relatively unknown French duo Daft Punk. Apparently they’ve already composed 24 tracks for the film, when the director was asked why he decided to have Daft Punk do the film score, he replied,

“How could you not at least go to those guys?”

I agree in full, and, let’s be honest when Daft Punk performs live they look like they just got spit out of the Tronverse. Unfortunately there’s going to be a fucking Journey song in it again, which I will forgive as long as Disney doesn’t fuck with Daft Punk like they did Wendy Carlos and forced an orchestra on her… classically trained musicians are so overrated. Anyway, here’s the Tron Legacy theme for download, apparently it’s done with Cryda Luv. I have no idea who Cryda Luv is but I’m guessing he/she named themselves after the amazing french record label, Crydamoure, owned by Daft Punker Guy-Manuel. Or maybe it’s just an artist Daft Punk made up.
